Are there age requirements for working as a foreign nurse in Germany?
German law requires foreign workers who are 45+ years of age when they start working in Germany to show that their pension will be covered when they enter retirement (§ 18 II Nr.5 AufenthG). In many cases, nurses who will start to work in Germany when they are 45+ years old will be required to show sufficient funds or assets equal to ~45,000 euros.
The ~45,000 euro assets requirement is calculated using the age of the nurse upon arrival in Germany, the expected number of years they will work and contribute to the pension fund, and the amount of money needed for the expected length of retirement.
The journey to becoming a nurse in Germany can take between 8 and 18 months depending on the Candidate’s language level and how quickly tasks can be completed. For this reason, CWC Recruitment may ask Candidates who are 40+ years of age for proof of funds and assets earlier in the process to ensure that each nurse has the best chance of successfully deploying to Germany. CWC Recruitment will estimate the approximate duration of each Candidate's deployment journey based on his or her initial language level and the pace at which each Milestone is completed.
